Heads up on the revised NEC article 690 interpretations tripping up inspections

Just had a job fail inspection because the AHJ is now requiring arc-fault protection on all string inverters, not just microinverters. This added two days to our timeline and a costly rework, so double-check your local amendments before submitting plans.

Classic inspector power trip right there.

Inspector Davis failed our entire site because one fire extinguisher was an inch too high.

Back when I was helping with a community center renovation, we failed over a signed tag being two months out of date. I felt like such a fool because I was the one who checked the logbook and missed it. Inspectors like Davis have a knack for finding the one thing you overlooked, no matter how small. Now I double-check everything, but I still managed to mount a first aid kit too low last week. Can't win!

That mention of Inspector Davis rings true. I had a project fail because a conduit support was six inches too far apart, according to a new amendment nobody told us about. Now I call the AHJ weekly for updates, but it's always something.
