Debate: Should AI art tools include mandatory watermarks or not?

I was at a local gallery opening last Friday and overheard two artists arguing about this. One said watermarks destroy the creative flow, the other said without them we lose all credit. What side do you all lean on for AI generated pieces?

Watermarks feel like a band-aid solution to a much bigger problem. The issue isn't really about the tool itself, it's about how people use it without thinking about credit. I get that artists want to protect their work, but slapping a watermark on every AI generated piece just feels like we're treating the symptom instead of the cause. Maybe we should focus on better ways to track authorship through metadata or blockchain stuff that doesn't mess with the actual image. Those watermarks get in the way of sharing and remixing, which is kind of the whole point of digital art in the first place. I'd rather see the community push for smarter attribution systems than just covering everything with a big ugly logo.
