I finally let an AI plan my garage organization and it sorted everything by color

I downloaded an app that uses AI to help with home projects. It scanned all my tools and gear with my phone camera. Then it suggested arranging everything by color instead of type. So now my red drill is next to a red bucket, not with other power tools. When I need a screwdriver, I have to hunt for it based on hue. My neighbor saw it and asked if I was starting a paint sample display. It's a silly example of AI thinking outside the box, but not very helpful for actual work.

Honestly that sounds incredibly frustrating to deal with. Tbh organizing tools by color instead of type seems like the AI missed the point completely. Your neighbor's paint sample joke is pretty spot on. Ngl that's a perfect example of a smart system being kinda dumb for actual use.

Bro, that paint sample comment hit me hard because I did the exact same thing. I spent a whole weekend organizing my toolbox by color like some kind of home depot rainbow. Looked amazing for about a day until I needed a specific wrench and had to check every shade of blue and red first. My buddy called it "art directed frustration" and he wasn't wrong. Its like we want things to look smart but forget they actually have to work. Totally agree that AI falls into the same trap of being clever instead of useful.

Man, I once organized all my screwdrivers by handle color instead of size. Thought it would look COOL on the wall, but then spent ten minutes looking for a Phillips head. My wife still laughs about it every time we need to fix something. Felt pretty dumb, kinda like that AI.

It's like they teach AI to be clever instead of useful.
