Just found out AI can predict heart attacks 5 years early
I was reading a study from the Mayo Clinic last night. Their AI model looks at routine ECG scans. It found patterns doctors miss. 85% accuracy rate for predicting future cardiac events. That blew my mind. They tested it on 2,500 patients over 3 years. Has anyone else seen these results from other hospitals? I want to know if this is being used outside research settings.

The Mayo Clinic results are REALLY impressive but I wonder how it scales to bigger populations. My cousin works in a cardiology unit and she told me their hospital is piloting a similar AI system but it flagged too many false positives for people with pre-existing conditions. That 85% accuracy might drop once you factor in patients with pacemakers or weird heart rhythms. Still, if it catches even ONE silent killer it's worth pushing forward. These algorithms learn so fast too, give them 5 years and they'll probably predict heart attacks from how you TYPE on a keyboard.

Oh for sure @nora_park, that false positive issue pops up everywhere, not just in heart stuff.

@Kellys78 I dunno, if it misses a real problem cause it's too cautious, that's not helpful either.
