My AI tool spent 3 days writing a 500-word apology email for a typo
I let an AI drafting assistant handle my response to a client complaint in San Jose, and it generated 47 versions before landing on one that just said 'sorry, my bad' with a coupon code. Has anyone else watched an AI overthink something a human could solve in 2 minutes?

The whole "47 versions" thing kind of proves the point, but maybe not the way you meant. An AI tool that churns out that many drafts is just showing you exactly how much useless effort goes into picking at words that don't matter. The client in San Jose probably didn't care about the apology being perfect, they cared about the coupon code and that you didn't do it again. I've seen people spend way longer than 2 minutes hand-wringing over that same email, so the AI just mirrors what we already do badly.
