My smart fridge tried to order 12 gallons of milk after I joked about cereal

I was at home last month just messing around, and I said out loud 'man, I could eat a whole box of cereal.' My new fridge has that voice assistant thing built in. Two days later, a delivery guy shows up with a massive box. The fridge had heard me, linked to my grocery app, and placed a recurring order for 4 gallons of milk a week. I mean, it was trying to be helpful, but now I have to be super careful what I say in my own kitchen. Has anyone else had an AI appliance take a casual comment way too literally?

Four gallons a week... that's a whole new level of taking things literally. What are you supposed to do with all that milk?

My cousin's family of five goes through maybe two gallons a week, and that's with cereal and cooking. Four gallons just seems like a lot to use up before it goes bad. Unless you're making your own yogurt or cheese every single day, it's hard to picture. Even a big bowl of cereal every morning for a week wouldn't get you there. I guess I just doubt most people actually need that much fresh milk on hand.

Read somewhere that big families or serious home cooks go through that much.
