Pro tip: A user told me my AI art prompts were way too vague

I was posting some generated images in a Discord server, and someone said, 'Bro, 'a cool robot' gives the AI nothing to work with.' They suggested adding a specific style, like '80s anime,' and a material, like 'chrome.' I tried it with 'a chrome samurai in a rainy neon city, 80s anime style' and the output was ten times better. Anyone else have a simple trick that leveled up their prompt game?

My neighbor asked me to make a flyer for his band's show last year. I typed "cool rock band poster" into one of those free generators and got a truly sad picture of a guitar in front of a sunset. He told me to add "grunge texture, ripped paper edges, and the font from the Nevermind album." The difference was night and day. It went from generic clip art to something you'd actually tape on a phone pole.

Ever notice how @harperg76's neighbor basically gave the AI a mood board? My cousin tried to get a "happy birthday" image and it gave her a balloon with a creepy face.

My buddy did the same thing with his fantasy book cover prompts.
