Shoutout to the cashier who told me generative AI isn't always the answer

I was buying a coffee last Tuesday and the cashier mentioned they use an older chatbot for their inventory, not the flashy new models. Said the simpler tool just works better for their small shop. Has anyone else found that older AI sometimes beats the new stuff for specific tasks?

Man, it's a coffee shop ordering system, not a NASA launch. People act like picking the right AI is some deep life choice.

5 years of UX design says u @ray_miller84 are wrong because bad menus cost real sales.

I get where you're coming from with the "not a NASA launch" line, but I actually see it differently. A bad menu system can make a coffee shop lose customers every single day, and picking the right setup is more important than people give it credit for. I've waited behind people at counters struggling with a confusing tablet screen that froze or had buttons that were too tiny to tap. It's not rocket science, but it DOES matter if you want people to actually order their drinks without frustration.
