Switched my stance on AI writing tools after talking to my professor

I used to think AI writing assistants were just cheating shortcuts that ruined creativity. Then my composition professor Dr. Hayes told me she uses one to generate outlines for students who struggle with blank page syndrome. Why would we gatekeep the process when the output still requires our own thinking?

Gatekeep the process" is doing a lot of heavy lifting for a writing outline.

Used to roll my eyes at outlines, but you're right.

Oh man, same here! I used to just wing it and hope for the best, but that backfired so hard on a fanfic I was writing. Now I do a super rough outline with just bullet points for each scene, like "they meet here, argue about this, then something bad happens." It saves me from getting stuck halfway through or writing myself into a corner.
