That time the AI translation bot butchered a dinner order in front of 15 guests
I was testing a new language model plugin for a restaurant menu site in Austin last spring... thought it was working perfectly. Then a table of 15 from Japan tried to order, and the bot translated 'smoked brisket' as 'burnt cow meat'. The whole thing spiraled into a 20 minute mess of hand gestures and Google translate on phones. Has anyone else had an AI tool completely fail at context like that?

Yeah but that's kind of a funny mistake though.

Ngl I heard a similar story about a bot that translated 'chicken fried steak' wrong at a diner in Dallas.

Worth remembering though @mila_campbell25 that these things mess up basic stuff most people wouldn't think twice about.
