Tried auto-generating my whole website with AI, got 400 junk pages in 72 hours

I spent last weekend using a popular AI site builder to auto-generate content for my niche blog about vintage guitar repair. It produced 400 pages in 72 hours, but when I actually checked them, about 340 were total garbage with fake wiring diagrams and wrong capacitor values. Google flagged 30 pages as spam within a week and my organic traffic dropped from 2,100 hits a month to around 140. The lesson I learned is that AI can draft ideas but not replace hands-on knowledge from real bench work. Has anyone else had search engines punish them for AI-generated content that seemed okay at first glance?

yeah i learned this one the hard way too, burned a whole domain on AI blog posts about car tuning and got hit with a manual action like 2 weeks later. the key is to use it for outlines and then rewrite everything with your actual knowledge, or just scrap it and write shorter posts from scratch, google can smell that generic pattern a mile away. your niche is super specific too so people will call out the fake diagrams fast, that reputation hit hurts worse than the traffic loss.
