Debate: should you strip a dead oak before dropping it or just send it whole?

I had a job last week on a 60 foot dead red oak in a tight backyard. One guy told me to strip every branch first to reduce weight and control the fall. Another said just notch it and let it go, it's dead weight anyway. I stripped it. Took me an extra 3 hours. The drop was clean but I kept wondering if I wasted my time. What's your call on this one, strip or send it whole?

Stripping is the right move for a tight backyard every time. You saved yourself a potential disaster if that dead oak decided to twist on you. The extra 3 hours is just part of the job when you're dealing with something that could wreck a fence or a house. I'd rather waste time than waste money on a repair bill.
