Ditch the handsaw for a pole pruner on tall deadwood

Last week I was taking out a big dead limb on a 60 foot oak in Ventura and kept fighting the reach with my handsaw. Switched to a 12 foot pole pruner with a bypass head and the cut took half the time with way less shoulder strain. I used to think pole pruners were only for small stuff, but the control on that long reach made the whole job safer. Anybody else found that the right tool beats brute force when you're up on a ladder? What are you using for high deadwood that isn't a bucket truck?
