Just spent two full days trying to get a proper union on a big maple in Springfield. The client's old irrigation line was right where we needed to dig.

Ugh, that's the worst. Those old lines are never on the maps either, so you only find them by hitting them.

Tell me about it. We were digging a new flower bed last year and found a whole bundle of old phone cables wrapped in that gross tar paper. Homeowner had no clue it was there, just a few inches down. Total pain to work around and of course it wasn't on any of the site plans they gave us. Stuff like that just kills your whole schedule.

Check the property records at the county office. Sometimes they list abandoned easements.
