Noticed something odd about oak root fungus at a park in Portland last month
I was checking out some dying oaks at Laurelhurst Park and saw the same white rot pattern on three different trees in a row. Has anyone else seen it spread faster in urban soil vs forest settings?

Oak root fungus actually has a different rot pattern - it causes a honey-colored mushroom growth at the base and a stringy white decay, not just a uniform white rot. Urban soil compaction can definitely stress oaks and make them more vulnerable though.

Yeah totally saw the same thing on a big oak near my place last summer.
