Overheard a guy at the stump grinder rental place

Guy was talking about how he never sharpens his chipper blades, just replaces them every 20 hours. Said it saves him time and he gets cleaner chips. What do you guys do, sharpen or swap out?

20 hour replacement is overkill unless he's hitting rocks.

Right? I mean unless the guy is literally using his hardtail as a jackhammer on sharp rocks every ride, that seems wild. Most trail riding just needs a quick clean and lube, maybe a chain check every few hundred miles. 20 hours is like what, 2-3 weeks of regular riding? That would get expensive fast for no real benefit.
