Spent $400 on a new climbing rope and it snapped on a big oak removal

I was working a job in Springfield and the rope gave way about twenty feet up, luckily my gear caught me. The supplier said it was a bad batch from a factory overseas. Has anyone else had gear fail like that recently?

Had a carabiner fail on me last year... scary stuff. I took pictures of the broken gear and the lot number right away. Ended up sending it all to the manufacturer and they did a full recall on that line. Getting everything in writing from the supplier was key for me.

$400 and it just snapped? That's terrifying, man.

Bad batch from overseas" makes me think of these cheap mop heads I bought once. Fell apart after one use, left blue fuzz all over a client's floor.
