Switched from a handsaw to a Silky saw for pruning and the difference is huge
I spent 3 years using a regular folding handsaw for most of my pruning work around Portland. Last month I finally grabbed a Silky Sugoi after a guy at the lumber yard wouldn't stop talking about them. Cut through a 6 inch branch on a maple tree in like 15 seconds and the cut was way cleaner. Has anyone else made that switch and noticed a big difference in how fast you work?

You mentioned the cut being way cleaner. Did the bark tear less on the underside?

Man 3 inches of bark peeled off on the bottom side like a cheap sticker on a hot car. I'm not kidding, I stood there for a solid 10 seconds just staring at it like "well that's a new problem." The top cut looked like a laser did it but the bottom was basically a war crime. I tried slowing down the chain speed on the exit and that helped a little, maybe saved an inch of bark but still ugly. My neighbor said just flip the log over and nobody will see it but I know it's there and it bugs me. Honestly next time I'm just gonna make a shallow relief cut on the bottom first no matter how stupid it looks.

I wonder if the type of wood matters more than we think, I've had oak peel way worse than pine even with the same chain speed. @eric_knight7 might be onto something with that relief cut idea, I'm gonna test it on a wet piece of maple tomorrow just to see.
