That trick with a paint marker for marking cut angles actually works
I was out on a job in Austin last week, trying to get a clean notch cut on a big live oak limb. Kept second-guessing my angle, so I grabbed a cheap yellow paint marker and drew my cut lines right on the bark before even starting the saw. Made the whole thing way faster and the hinge turned out perfect. Anyone else do something simple like that to save time on tricky cuts?

Wait, you just drew ON the bark with a marker instead of eyeballing it? That's actually Brilliant.

My old man did something similar with a carpenter's pencil on framing lumber for years. It's funny how a simple mark can save your whole afternoon. I've started doing it with everything now, even marking where my extension ladder feet go on uneven ground. Saves me from resetting the ladder three times.

@ray_campbell46 my buddy Derek marked his shovel handle where to dig for buried sprinkler lines and it saved him a whole Saturday of guesswork.
