That Wednesday in Columbus where everything that could go wrong did

We had a big white oak removal lined up, the kind where the homeowner waits until the thing is basically dead over their garage. Crew showed up at 7am, and by 9 we realized the bucket truck had a hydraulic leak. Not a little drip, a full spray. So we sent it back to the shop and rigged everything by hand. Took twice as long. Then the groundie snapped a brand new 3/4 bull rope on the lowering line, lucky nobody was under it. By 3pm the homeowner comes out and asks if we can leave the stump higher so she can plant flowers on it. We had already ground it flat. I stood there for a minute and just laughed. Paid my guys double time to finish up at 8pm. Has anyone else had a job where the client changes the plan after the work is basically done? How do you handle that without losing your cool?

Wait, you said the bull rope snapped but then the homeowner asked about the stump after you ground it flat. That timeline doesnt add up unless you ground it before you finished the lowering. Either way, that woman was clueless about how tree work actually goes. I wouldve just told her the stump's gone and offered to plant a bush next to it.
