The retired climber at the Rockford workshop said my back cut was too low and he was dead right
Old guy named Dale with a ponytail watched me drop a 40 foot ash at a workshop in Rockford last month and said "your back cut is sitting way below your hinge, you'll get a barber chair one day." I brushed it off since I've felled hundreds of trees without a problem. Sure enough, two weeks later a red oak pinched my saw and split straight up the trunk about 6 feet before it tipped over, right in front of a client's garage. How do you all handle it when someone with way more time in the woods points out a habit you didn't know you had?
