A pair of house finches just built a nest in my hanging fern in Phoenix

I noticed them gathering twigs and grass from my yard about three weeks ago, and now there are four tiny blue eggs in there. In my experience, they're pretty shy, so I've been trying to watch from the kitchen window to not scare them off. Has anyone else had birds nest in a potted plant that close to the house?

Ugh, that sounds like a total nuisance. Those birds are going to make a huge mess on your porch and attract predators right to your door. I'd honestly take that nest down before it becomes a bigger problem.

Actually @joel_hall17, it's illegal to move most bird nests once eggs are laid.

Ugh, tell me about it. We had a robin build a nest right on our porch light last spring (so much for using that light). The mess was unreal, and we had to tiptoe around for weeks until the babies left.
