First time I spotted a cedar waxwing after 4 years of birding

I used to just glance out my kitchen window in Portland and not really see anything, but now I sit with my coffee for 20 minutes every morning with binoculars, and last Tuesday a whole flock of cedar waxwings landed on my crabapple tree, so I'm wondering what little change got you all to finally slow down and really watch?

Honestly, that's the real question, right? I mean, the flock showing up is luck, but the 20 minutes of sitting still is the whole game. What was the actual moment for you, the thing that flipped the switch from glancing to really looking? Was it one specific bird, or did you just get tired of missing stuff? Ngl, I'm always curious if people have a single spark or if it's more of a slow burn, because for me it took a barred owl screaming outside my window at 6am to finally get it.
