I was reading a local birding blog and found out blue jays aren't actually blue. Their feathers have no blue pigment at all.

Wait, what? That's wild. I saw that fact on a nature show once. It's all about how light bounces off the feather structure, no actual blue color in there. Messes with your head a bit.

Totally blows my mind too. It's called structural color, and it works with some greens and purples as well. The feathers have tiny shapes that scatter light, like how the sky looks blue. Makes you question what color really is.
