My $40 squirrel-proof feeder just got completely outsmarted by a raccoon
I bought this fancy weight-activated feeder last month, thinking it would stop the squirrels from eating all my sunflower seeds. It worked for about two weeks, until a big raccoon showed up on my deck in Cincinnati last night. It just climbed the pole, hung its whole body on the perch to trip the mechanism, and dumped the entire seed load onto the ground. Now I'm out the seed AND the feeder feels useless. Anyone have a truly raccoon-proof setup that actually works?

Wait, it hung its whole body on the perch? That's wild...

Honestly that's just smart raccoon behavior, not a bad feeder. @lopez.quinn, if a squirrel did that I'd be impressed, but raccoons are just next level. You need a whole different plan for them.

My old feeder lasted two weeks before a raccoon tore it apart. Seeing that video @lopez.quinn posted made me realize they just treat everything like a puzzle. Now I know you really do need a whole different plan for them.
