My feeder tray snapped in half and dumped 12 pounds of sunflower seeds on my porch
It happened this morning around 6am while I was refilling it, and the squirrels scattered so fast that one ran straight into the glass door, has anyone else had a feeder collapse during a refill rush?

Did the feeder have one of those metal hangers with the little plastic piece that goes over the hook? Because those plastic parts get brittle after a couple seasons in the sun, and they snap right when you put the weight of a full bag on them. That's probably not the feeder's fault, more like the weather just wore it down. I had the same thing happen last fall with a big tube feeder, and the seeds went everywhere too. Squirrels hitting the glass door is kind of funny though, hope it didn't crack anything.
