My neighbor saw a painted bunting at her feeder and now I keep checking mine like a crazy person
My neighbor Ruth knocked on my door last Tuesday morning to tell me she had a painted bunting at her tube feeder, and she lives less than a block from me here in Savannah. She said it stayed for maybe 20 seconds around 7am, and she got one blurry phone pic before it flew off toward the marsh. I've had a feeder up for 8 months and get the usual cardinals and chickadees, so should I switch to a different seed mix or just sit outside earlier, and has anyone here actually gotten one of these to stick around?

Millet is your best bet, painted buntings love that stuff and it brings them way closer than sunflower. Also try hanging the feeder lower near some cover, they get spooked easy and won't stick around in the open. Saw one at my aunt's place off Skidaway last spring and it hung out for like 3 days before moving on.
