My neighbor swears by store bought suet, I make my own, who has it right?
He grabbed me over the fence last Saturday and said the plain store cakes feed just as many woodpeckers as my homemade mix. I use lard, peanut butter, cornmeal and a scoop of sunflower chips, and I get two downy pairs plus a red bellied regular, but his $6 cakes do look way less messy. So is homemade really worth the fuss, or am I just making extra work for myself?
