My neighbor's robin rant made me laugh... and think

I was out filling the bird bath yesterday and my neighbor, Frank, came over to complain. He said a robin had been dive-bombing his reflection in his car's side mirror for three mornings straight, starting at 5:30 AM sharp. He called it a 'tiny, feathery jerk with a vendetta.' It was funny, but it got me watching the robins in my own yard more closely. I realized they're not just hopping around randomly, they're really focused on specific spots, probably full of bugs I can't even see. Has anyone else had a bird fixate on something weird like a shiny object?

Tiny, focused dramas" is such a perfect way to put it.

Lily70 is right about the routines. If you want to see more of it, try putting out a consistent food source, like unsalted peanuts. You'll get front row seats to their whole social scene, who's boss, who's sneaky. It's better than most TV.

Watch birds long enough and you see their little routines. My local crow gets mad at a specific garden gnome every single afternoon. It makes you realize they have these tiny, focused dramas we usually miss.
