Realized I was scaring off every finch by keeping my feeder by the window
Sat on my porch in Boise with coffee for 3 weeks straight and saw almost nothing but sparrows. Then my neighbor asked why my feeder was 2 feet from the glass and I felt dumb. Turns out the birds were spooking at their own reflections and my shadow moving behind the glass. Moved it out to the fence post about 15 feet away and had 6 goldfinches on it by the next morning. Anyone got tips for keeping cats off the ground feeder under it?

Man, I had the exact same thing happen and felt like such a dope when my wife pointed it out. For the cat problem, I put a cheap motion sprinkler near my ground feeder and it blasted the neighbor's tabby once, haven't seen it since.
