Talking to a gardener made me rethink my feeder placement

I was chatting with this old lady at the community garden last Saturday and she said my feeder is way too close to my bushes. She told me cats can hide there and grab birds easy. Has anyone else moved their feeder after hearing something like that?

Moved mine six feet away from the hedge after my neighbor told me the same thing.

Oh boy, that old gardener was absolutely right. I had my feeder right next to my big lilac bush for years and wondered why I kept finding scattered feathers underneath. A friend finally pointed out that the local tomcat was practically setting up a buffet. I moved it about eight feet away into the open and the birds are way more relaxed now. They'll actually sit and eat instead of grabbing a seed and flying off in a panic.
