That cheap bird feeder I bought on sale snapped in half during a storm last night
I grabbed this plastic feeder from the discount bin at the hardware store back in March for like 8 bucks. Thought I was being smart saving money but it couldn't handle a little wind and rain. I woke up at 5am to a loud crack and found the whole thing shattered on the ground with seed all over the patio. The cardinals and finches I was feeding just sat on the fence staring at me like I let them down. Now I'm gonna have to shell out for a decent metal one or maybe a recycled plastic tube feeder. Has anyone else had luck with those cheap feeders holding up longer than a season?

And yeah speaking of bad luck @miles_young59 my cheap feeder lasted exactly one windy Tuesday.

Used to think you had to spend real money on a feeder for it to hold up, but honestly, you changed my mind with this. I was all about that heavy duty metal one from the specialty shop, thought cheap plastic was just asking for trouble. Then my fancy one got knocked down by a squirrel and cracked anyway, so much for that investment. Picked up a basic tube feeder at the grocery store for like eight bucks after that, and it's been fine through rain and wind. Your "one windy Tuesday" thing makes me laugh but also, yeah, sometimes the cheap stuff works just as good until it doesn't, and you can just grab another. Birds don't care about the price tag as long as there's seed.

Birds don't really hold grudges, man. They'll come back if you put out more seed. Just grab another cheap one and hope for the best.
