That week in June when the mockingbird decided my truck mirror was its mortal enemy

For six straight mornings, same mockingbird perched on my driver side mirror at 5:30 AM sharp. Pecked at its own reflection like it owed him money. Left claw marks and weirdly a lot of bird droppings down the whole door. I tried covering the mirror with a grocery bag, but he just sat on the bag and screamed louder. Finally my neighbor Dave lent me this old fake owl statue, and the bird moved over to harass Dave's mailbox instead. Has anyone else had a bird declare war on something totally random in their yard?

Gotta love how nature just finds a way to mess with your daily routine, doesn't it? It's like once one problem leaves, another one shows up right next door. Birds really do pick the most random things to obsess over, almost like they're testing how much patience we actually have. The fake owl trick always works for a little while, but then the birds eventually figure it out and move on to the next victim. You'd think we'd all have figured out a foolproof system by now, but it's just one of those silly battles that never really ends. Makes you wonder who's really running the show sometimes, us or the wildlife.

Is the fake owl really fooling them or they just messing with us on purpose? My neighbor tried that and now the birds just sit on the owl's head like it's a throne. They always figure out the trick eventually, it's just a matter of time.

Oh for sure, I had the exact same thing happen with a fake hawk I put up last summer. At first it worked great but after like a week the sparrows were landing right next to it and pecking at the plastic like it was nothing. It's almost like they talk to each other and spread the word that it's not real.
