The scrub jay pair that stopped coming for 3 months finally showed up again today

I had these two Western Scrub Jays coming to my feeder every morning for like a year straight. Then around October they just vanished, no idea why. Today I saw them both at the suet feeder eating together like nothing happened. Has anyone else had birds disappear for a season and then come back randomly?

Wait, they both came back together on the exact same day after three months? That's wild, I've had birds disappear for weeks but never a full season like that.

Two of my parakeets pulled the exact same stunt back in 2017. They took off in late April and I figured they were gone for good, then both landed on my porch feeder on a random Tuesday in July like nothing happened. I still have no idea where they went or why they came back together, but I was just happy to see them.

Always makes me feel like a terrible bird parent when a bird leaves for months and comes back like they just went to the store, though honestly my birds probably left because I forgot to change the water dish twice. @price.gavin sounds like your parakeets had a whole adventure while mine just fake a nap to get out of training.
