Vent: neighbor's outdoor cat cleared my feeder blind in 2 weeks
Last month I had maybe 14 species dropping by my platform feeder on any given morning, chickadees and finches and even a pair of towhees. Then my new neighbors moved in on June 3rd and they let their orange tabby roam all day. Within 2 weeks the feeder went dead quiet, I counted zero birds over three straight mornings. I finally caught the cat crouched under the juniper, staring up at the feeder like it was a buffet menu. I talked to the neighbor about a bell collar or keeping it inside, and she said cats are supposed to hunt, that's what they do. I get that, but my birding spot is basically ruined now, and I've spent 40 bucks on safflower seed that just sits there going stale. Has anyone else fought this battle? What actually works without starting a full war with your neighbor?
