PSA: That $120 fan controller I bought was a COMPLETE waste
I dropped $120 on a fancy fan controller for my UDS smoker last month. Thought it would keep my temps rock solid overnight. First cook with a pork butt, it lost connection at 2 AM and my fire almost went out. I yanked it off and went back to my old tuning fork method. Has anyone else had bad luck with those electronic controllers or did I just get a lemon?

$120 for something that can't even keep a wifi signal? That's insane.

Yeah those wifi controllers can be flaky, I tried one and went back to a simple air damper and never looked back.

...and my buddy had a similar experience with one of those wifi controllers. He spent a whole weekend trying to set it up and it never worked right, so he just returned it and went back to a simple air damper like @drew_reed62 said. Some things really don't need to be that complicated.
