Had a customer ask me to slice his roast beef paper thin on the deli slicer the other day

This older guy comes in with a whole boneless ribeye he wanted me to slice, and he specifically said 'like you're making prosciutto, man.' I set the dial to 1 and went slow, but the meat kept tearing on the last inch. He just stood there watching the whole time. Anyone else have customers with super specific slicing requests that just don't work?

I had a guy last week order a brisket from me and wanted it shaved so thin he said he could read a newspaper through it. I tried telling him brisket is too tough for that, but he insisted. I set the dial to zero basically and went at it, and the first few slices came out okay but then it just turned into a pile of shredded meat strings. He picked up the bag, looked at it, and said "this is not what I wanted" like I hadn't warned him. People watch you slice too, it's the weirdest thing. They just stand there breathing down your neck while you're trying to focus on not losing a finger. I had one guy who wanted his turkey sliced so thin it would melt on his tongue and he literally timed me with his phone stopwatch, I kid you not.

Oh COME ON he warned the guy and the customer still acted surprised? That brisket dude got exactly what he deserved for not listening to someone who actually knows what they're doing.
