Hit 40 years behind the block yesterday and the number feels heavier than I thought it would.

Started as a kid sweeping floors at my uncle's shop in '84. The whole day I kept thinking about the thousands of carcasses, the tons of trim, the endless sharpening. It's not just a job count, it's the weight of a whole life in one trade. Anyone else get hit by a milestone that made you stop and look back?

You said it feels like the weight of a whole life in one trade. I see that everywhere now. People hit these round numbers and the whole story of their work just lands on them all at once. It's not about being sad, it's like you finally see the shape of the thing you built when you step back from it. Makes you wonder how we all carry these quiet histories in our hands every single day.

Oh wow, this hit me hard. I was just reading about a baker who finally made his millionth loaf, and he just stared at the rack, thinking about all the flour and mornings. It's exactly what you're saying, @the_grace. That moment when the count clicks over, and you're not just doing a job anymore. You're holding proof of all the time you spent, like my dad with his worn-out toolbox. Every scratch on those tools is a quiet history.

I mean, is it that deep though? It's just a number, lol.
