Pro tip: think twice before you buy a second-hand band saw for breaking down primals

I grabbed a used one for $300 last month, and the motor gave out after just two pork shoulders. Now I'm out the cash and had to rush order a new one to finish a big custom order. Anyone have a good brand they trust for heavy daily use?

Check the motor's duty cycle first, @claire_gibson.

Yeah duty cycle is huge. Had a similar thing burn out on me last year. Swapped to a unit rated for continuous run and it's been solid since.

Ever think a used tool was a steal until it wasn't? I learned that lesson the hard way too. Now I only buy new for anything that gets real daily work.
