Spent $180 on a power rib cutter, now I'm scared of my own saw

I bought one of those electric bone saws from a restaurant supply place near Pittsburgh to speed up my pork rib batches. First day it made perfect cuts, saved me like 2 hours, felt amazing. Then yesterday the blade guard slipped and it chucked a rib bone across the cooler, almost took out my apprentice's coffee mug. I know it's operator error but has anyone else had a close call with these things and stuck with it, or did you go back to hand saws?
