That $80 butcher block oil I bought was a total waste, bacon fat works way better

Switched to wiping my maple block down with rendered bacon fat after a chef in Savannah told me about it 6 months ago, and the wood stays sealed without that sticky residue, anyone else tried animal fats over the fancy mineral oils?

Rendered bacon fat on a maple block, and the whole kitchen doesn’t smell like a greasy spoon every time you cut bread? That chef must have a death wish for your knives.
