The day I stopped hating on electric knives

I always thought electric knives were for people too lazy to sharpen a real one. My buddy Mark at the shop in Portland convinced me to try his on a side of pork last Thursday. It cut through bone and fat smoother than anything I've done by hand. Anyone else give in to a tool they swore they'd never use?

I read somewhere that electric knives were originally invented for disabled folks, which changed how I look at them. @the_kim's camping kit thing makes me think maybe I should borrow Mark's next time I'm roughing it.

Wait, have you ever seen someone try to open those tough plastic clamshell packages with a regular knife? My friend Jenna got one of those electric knives just for that, and she said it changed her life. She literally uses it for everything now from Amazon boxes to cutting up cardboard for recycling.

Mark's been trying to get me on board with one for years. I finally caved last Thanksgiving after watching him slice through a frozen turkey like it was butter. My arm wasn't sore for once and my carving knife stayed safely in the drawer. Now I'm that guy with an electric knife in his camping kit, which feels wrong but works great.
