DAE blow $60 on a concert ticket then end up glad the show got called off?
Bought a $60 ticket to see a band in Columbus six months back, and the singer lost his voice two hours before doors opened. I walked to a diner nearby and split a plate of pancakes with a stranger who also had a dead ticket, and we still text about music. What's the best thing that happened after one of your plans fell apart?
My buddy drove 40 minutes to a wing place that turned out to be closed for a gas leak, and the only other open spot was a taco truck in the same lot. He ended up talking to the owner for an hour and now he does their books for cheap. It seems like plans breaking open a little free time is when the good stuff sneaks in. A packed schedule leaves no room for a random diner stranger.
Ha, this is basically the story of my life except I'm the guy who panics when plans fall apart. My whole family knows if a restaurant is closed I'm already in the car looking up the next closest spot and getting annoyed the whole way there, no stopping to chat with anybody. The idea of me standing around a taco truck making small talk for an hour is hilarious, I'd probably just order a burrito and eat it in the car alone. Your buddy sounds like he has that gift where he just ends up talking to people and good stuff happens. Meanwhile I'm over here with a color coded weekend and zero random diner strangers. I can see your point though, some of my best nights came from nothing going to plan, the problem is I never leave any room for nothing to go to plan.
