Had to choose between a camping trip and a family wedding this weekend
I planned a 3 day solo camping trip up at Harriman State Park for months. Then my cousin's wedding got rescheduled to the same Saturday. I picked the wedding because my mom would never let me hear the end of it. Honestly the reception had a good spread and I ended up talking to my uncle about his old fishing boat for an hour. Still wondering if I should have just gone to the woods instead. Anybody else make the wrong choice between family stuff and your own plans?

My three day hike got sacrificed for a niece's baptism last year.

Saw a article that said people spend like 30% of their PTO on family stuff they don't even want to do... kind of depressing when you think about it. Baptisms and weddings eat up all the good hiking windows. That's a solid loss though, three days in the backcountry traded for a church ceremony and some punch.

Wedding food is good but a campfire hot dog hits different, lol. At least you got a solid fishing boat story out of it instead of just mosquito bites. Your mom owes you one though, better cash that in soon.
