Just realized a canceled dinner led to the best Tuesday night I've had in months
My friend canceled on our dinner plans at the last minute last Tuesday, and I was already in the car with my shoes on, so I decided not to just sit home. I drove to the little park down the street from my house in Boise and walked a loop I had never bothered to try before, mostly because it always looked too short from the road. Turns out the loop connects to a longer path behind the ball fields, and I ended up walking for almost two hours. I passed a man teaching his kid to ride a bike with no training wheels, and another woman was painting the mountains on a tiny canvas on a bench. I got home after dark with sore legs and a weirdly good mood. What struck me was that I had been putting off that walk for about three years because I kept telling myself it was not worth the trip. Has anyone else had a canceled plan push them into something small that turned out way better than the original thing?
