My $120 concert ticket turned into a solo movie marathon

Had tickets to see a band in Chicago this past Friday, but the show got canceled an hour before doors because the singer lost their voice. I was already downtown, so instead of going home, I walked to a theater and bought a ticket for whatever was starting next. Ended up seeing three movies back to back, spent about $40 on tickets and snacks total. It was actually kinda fun, just sitting in the dark with no plan. Anyone else ever turn a canceled night out into something totally random like that?

Honestly that line about sitting in the dark with no plan is the best part. Tbh when stuff gets canceled we usually just go home and scroll on our phones. Turning it into a solo adventure like that is way better. Ngl I might steal that idea next time my plans fall apart, sounds way more fun than just being annoyed about it.

Totally get what you mean about just going home to scroll. Used to do that every time plans fell through, felt like such a waste of an evening. Reading that post actually changed my mind, like why not just lean into the weird empty night? Stealing the idea too, honestly. Way better than sitting around being bummed about the change.

My friend got ditched last week and just walked around downtown for two hours, said it was the best night he'd had in months. Ended up finding this tiny bookstore that's open super late.
