My $200 rain barrel was a total flop
Back in 2020 I had big plans to water my garden with a fancy rain barrel system I bought for $200. Well, that drought hit and the barrel sat almost empty for three months straight. Meanwhile my neighbor just ran a hose from his sink and his tomatoes were fine. Now I just use the dumb thing as a planter for petunias. Anyone else waste cash on something that sounded good but didn't deliver?

That drought hit" is exactly the problem - you can't blame the barrel for the weather. I've got one and it's saved me a ton during regular rain seasons, just gotta know it's not a cure-all.

Nothing worse than watching a whole season's savings just dry up like that.

See, I actually think the barrel DOES have some blame here if you're relying on it through a drought without a backup plan. It's good for the regular months but it's not a whole water solution, you know?
