My birthday dinner got canceled last minute, so I ended up having the best night alone
My friends all bailed on my birthday dinner in Denver last Saturday because of a sudden snowstorm. I was bummed, but I ordered my favorite Thai takeout, put on a movie, and ended up calling my grandma for an hour. We talked about her 80th birthday party back in 2019, and I laughed more than I have in weeks. Has anyone else had a canceled event turn into a surprisingly nice solo evening?

Heard about my friend whose big group camping trip got rained out. She was stuck in her apartment alone and decided to finally try baking that complicated pie recipe she'd saved. The kitchen was a mess, but she ate warm pie straight from the pan while listening to the rain. Said it was the most peaceful night she'd had all year. Sometimes the universe just forces you to slow down and enjoy your own company.
