My Saturday hike got rained out so I tried to fix a leaky kitchen faucet
What should have been a 30 minute job with a new washer turned into a 3 hour ordeal because the old cartridge was totally seized. I had to drive to the hardware store in Burlington twice for a special puller tool. Anyone else have a simple home fix blow up into a whole day project?

My neighbor's toilet valve took 4 hours and a trip to Burlington, which totally proves @beth_reed's point about hidden steps.

Ugh, that's the worst. It feels like every single home repair has a secret, way harder step they don't tell you about. My rule now is to just automatically double whatever time I think it'll take, because something is always rusted shut or the wrong size.
