My weekend hiking trip got rained out in Gatlinburg

Drove 4 hours to Gatlinburg last Saturday for a 10 mile trail but it poured all morning. Ended up spending the day at a pancake house and then walking through the indoor craft fair. Anybody else ever pivot to indoor stuff when outdoor plans fall through?

Gatlinburg's actually in the Smoky Mountains on the Tennessee side, not far from Pigeon Forge - I only mention it because I made that mistake once and ended up looking at the wrong trail map. The pancake house move is solid though, the ones around there are famous for a reason and I'd pick a good stack of pancakes over a wet hike any day. Did you find any cool handmade stuff at the craft fair to make up for the rain?

Was the trail map mixup just a huge pain to sort out or did you eventually find your way? I feel your pain on getting rained out though, nothing worse than planning a hike and ending up soaked.

Oh man @patricia558, the trail map mixup was honestly a nightmare lol. Took me a solid 30 minutes just standing there trying to match up trail names to actual landmarks, felt like I needed a GPS just for the map itself. Ended up asking a park ranger and she laughed at me a little which was totally fair. The rain was the final nail in the coffin for sure, nothing worse than getting drenched and still being lost. Those pancakes saved the day though, best decision I made that whole trip honestly.
